Northbay Pier Report (S.F. Bay Area) 9/19

Well done! That's a great late season catch! I always appreciate your posts. And as always, thanks for providing specific details ( hook type and size, tides and conditions, leader and dropper length....) I do have a few questions though. From looking at some of your previous posts on...

    SF Marina Green Redesign

I found the tidbit below in the SAN FRANCISCO MARINA IMPROVEMENT AND REMEDIATION PROJECT FAQS on the Project's website. "How Will Views Be Impacted? The project will locate boat slips from the southern East Harbor to an extension of the West Harbor, north of Marina Green. The project will...

    SF Marina Green Redesign

You'll find this a bit sad if you've fished this area or stopped by to enjoy the view. Marina Green. On a recent trip to Torpedo Wharf, I came across a flyer posted in the area from residents opposed to the project. Looked up more information about the proposal. Seems like it's a "done deal"...

Just in — The vote has been taken — No salmon and halibut limit reduced to two in CenCal and NorCal ....

It was interesting listening to some of the public comments during the halibut segment of the Commission Meeting posted on Youtube, particularly the party boat skippers. All agreed that a reduction was long overdue. But each also mentioned their concern about any push toward an adjustment to...

Just in — The vote has been taken — No salmon and halibut limit reduced to two in CenCal and NorCal ....

That's really good news, Ken! I'm glad the process worked. At the time of the Halibut Fishery Webinar, I had doubts that the input of recreational anglers and their suggestions would really be taken seriously. I'm glad I participated. And I'm sure that many of the PFIC members are happy about...

Proposed Emergency Reduction CA Halibut Limit

It seems the CDFW had listened to the concerns of recreational anglers during the Halibut Fishery Webinar that was held in 2021. A fellow board member sent me this link recently. Proposed Emergency Reduction CA Halibut Bag Limit The proposed changes mention all the concerns that were voiced by...

    Municipal Pier Closed.

Looks like the pier will locked up for good. Estimated cost of rebuilding is pretty much a death sentence. https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/The-iconic-pier-at-S-F-s-Aquatic-Park-is-17602408.php

    Municipal Pier Closed.

Heard from a fellow fisherman that Muni Pier in San Francisco has been closed to fishing. I took a quick look at the Park Service website for official information. "Municipal Pier is closed until further notice pending post-earthquake inspection". I don't have a lot of hope that it will reopen...

California’s recreational spiny lobster season is set to kick off Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021, at 6 a.m.

Although it's a little unusual here in Nor Cal, they do make it into SF Bay occasionally. Here's a photo of one that was brought up in a crab net at Torpedo Wharf near the Golden Gate Bridge this past August.

    Proposing striper reg changes?

Did anyone get to attend the Aug. 24th meeting?

    SF Bay Red Tide

So sad to see what's happening to the Bay. Looked at a few pages of the photos but just couldn't continue.

    Spot Burning?

The New Reality It's going to take some getting used to for a lot of us older anglers. Things have changed a lot from what we would have called the good old days. Youtube, social media and the growth of local fishing clubs have added a new element to the locations where we fish. It's the "new...

    Spot Burning?

Yep. Heard it's become a madhouse. There are reliable reports of the location becoming so crowded that some of the anglers are arriving earlier than 3am and sleeping at the pier to make sure they get a primo spot!

    Spot Burning?

Here's another "odd" photo recently posted on social media. And just like last year's photo, this one's a "Frankenstein". There are at least two different locations in the photo that have been stitched together so that they appear to be a single spot somewhere along the San Francisco waterfront.
