The US Open of Surfing at Huntington Pier is a very exciting event to check out if you are in the area, but not the best time to go fishing.

With the exception of the inshore area the fishing part of the pier shouldn't be impacted. The main problem is parking, get there very early or late because the main parking lot and nearby lots will be filled by, I imagine, 8 a.m.

Skip it entirely. Events at HB pier etc start around 7am. Many other places to fish for a week. It's a nightmare that whole week.

I imagine the pier will be absolutely packed with tourists and spectators during that time as well...

Gypsyboy, I haven't seen a live beach in several years. The stream you posted was great. Just watching the waves.
I don't miss the crowds but I could almost smell the salt in the breeze.
