I spent the day here and wound up using the metal detector all day instead of wetting a line, but I
spoke to a couple fishers. One was baitfishing casting out just past the breakers with shrimp and
mackerel... No bites, no catches, no takers.

Other was surf fishing with artificials for perch and was nailing them, some fighters but no keepers.
Can't blame him with the 'sewage spill' warnings posted up and down the beach seemingly every
50 feet or so. Apparently they have been there for at least a few years now, and no one seems to
hesitate to swim there.

The bait that the fish were hitting were some purple soft baits... Looked like little flukes or swimbaits.
Brand name slips my mind for the moment. He said 3 to 1 hookup ratio on them over other baits.

Lots of worms in the sand (which I discovered digging for metal detecting targets). Not pile worms
but slender white worms... Kind of nasty looking actually. Explains the perch bite though... I'm sure
every outgoing breaker was like the next round of a buffet cart for them.
