Shelter Island pier report

Went fishing from 9pm to about 1230am. First 2.5 hours just a small ray on squid. Then around 1130pm...a nice run of mackerel. A bit bigger than usual. Caught all on strip squid with the assistance of a glow stick. Fun on spinning gear with 6 pound test.

Yes..I been their late as 2am and they are still open.

No Bonita yet...but tons of baitfish...a friend went to Imperial Beach pier and he caught his limits of small Bonita

Those macs really do look pretty chunky compared to what I normally see getting pulled up there...

Went out tonight and the Mack bite was good. A bunch of bait fish in the water. Wish I had a swim bait lure. Look like Corvina boiling on the baitfish.

I saw the YouTube video with Ken Jones on Shelter Island. I fished around the floating dock using a small spinning outfit with cut shrimp for bait. Like Ken said a bunch of bass under the dock. Caught and released a few bass. Something big hit my bait and broke me off. Maybe a bigger Bass. Fun night for me. Thanks Ken for the tip and video.
