Seal Beach Pier Partial Closure - Pier Rehabilitation

Went to SB pier this morning. A sign at entrance indicates "Pier Rehabilitation from April 10, 2023 thru May 23, 2023".

I fished at the end of the pier from 0500 to 0730. At 0730 construction crew arrived and told all fisherman to move back to midpier for fishing. Crew then taped off and closed end of pier. Crew working around the boat dock area.

Morning bite was decent. Queenfish aka Herring being caught via sabiki rig. I caught a few along with a Thornback and Round Ray.

I left after pier closure. Most fisherman gathered at midpier. Was a bit crowded.

I used to love fishing off that pier ,doesn't seem all that fisherman friendly these days ,and now this .And yes how many more.Belmont is in need of repair but at least the city is keeping it clean.

If they are actually repairing it and doing maintenance before it gets to the point it needs to be demolished, I would
take this as a good thing, no?

The city of SB does a good job of maintaining the pier. Graffiti is moved quickly, city crews empty trash cans daily and I see the same regular pier walkers picking up trash from the pier very frequently. Restrooms are clean. I try to fish at last once a week at this pier.

I definitely like this pier. Minus the rails as they are unfriendly for rods.

The pier in pacific beach has been closed past the white picket fence for at least a month now.
