Pepper Park Pier

It's been at least 10 years since fishing here. It can be a hidden gem of a pier. Great location right next to an inlet to some marshland. Gamefish like Bonita, corvina, spotted bay bass hang around the inlet to intercept baitfish on an outgoing tide.

Timing was bad as I fished a low tide. Casted a kastmaster spoon for an hour with no bites. Hope to fish here when the water heats up and a better tide situation. Will keep you posted.

Some info on this pier...it's located south of San Diego in the city of National City. Small pier but a good location to catch fish. It has nice restroom facilities and a launch ramp for boats. Plenty of free parking. Opens at 6am and closes at 1030pm.

Looks like a fun pier. Knowing that bay it is probably a decent spot for bonefish.

Yes...they have Bonefish in this area. Ghost Shrimp and light tackle is your best chance. The location is perfect for some potential to have a fun place to fish.

I can imagine this pier to have great opportunities for a variety of fish. A bit of a drive for me though. My current fishing ground that I'm exploring is Mission Bay / La Jolla Area.

Thanks for the report. It's a nice pier and seems to have a good group of regulars. My last trip to the pier was in October and I was skunked, but some nice-sized mackerel had been caught earlier in the day. Unfortunately it has a fairly low 4.11 points per hour rating (my rating system based on number of fish per hour anf quality/size) which ranks it next to last among San Diego county piers (the Bayside Park Pier being last).

Just wondering though, does everyone know that there are articles on all of the piers accessible from the front page of the site?

I read the articles quite a bit. My hardcopy has been AWOL since I last moved (although I'd gone digital long
before that so rarely buy hardcopy books any more... too convenient to always be able to have my entire
library in my pocket). But to get off the tangent, I read the articles on the list of piers I'm considering visiting
this weekend to help narrow down my choices. Between the articles and reports on the forum it's a great
resource!
