After reading all of these posts I need to reorder my points for an ideal fishing pier...

First and foremost is restrooms! At a minimum mid-pier, but preferably some at 1/3 down the pier and another set 2/3 of the
way to the end. I had forgotten how unpleasant it was on piers without restrooms, especially if people find their own alternate
solutions.

The rest of my pier desires remain the same... Water for cleaning things up (with 4-5 foot hoses would be ideal), bait cutting boards
(below the top rail preferably to hopefully keep the top rail clean). Fish cleaning stations. Plentiful trash cans and recycling bins. Adequate
lighting.

Overhead shelter/shade is a great idea! It would also help to reduce overhead casting and make the pier more friendly during inclement
weather.

Speaking of restrooms, they can also provide shelter from the wind. From experience at Huntington Beach Pier, fishing behind the bathrooms or the tackle shop at a high tide can yield plenty of fish, while at the same time, keeping you out of the wind.

IMO Oyster Point is a close one to doing it all well...

Easy parking.
Restrooms.
Rod holders on the top rail.
Pilings with plenty of waterflow.
Sink.
Trash cans/line receptacles.

stainless steel for everything that the fish touches cleaning station, screws, clamps whatever they use, just stainless steel, concrete flooring is good lots of urethane plastic for cutting boards, good lights, signs to keep swimmers and surfer away from the pier, high and low fishing railing for kids. close by bathrooms, heck even a baitshop run by the city would be nice, i mean they can use it like a tourist spot, not with to much stuff in it, mostly fishing and history of the area. sort of like Manhattan beach pier, hermosa got rid of theirs also venice pier too. to many variable, this list is to long, parking, shops, easy access, and 24 hours fishing with patrols with people who knows fishing. yeah we can dream. i like a long pier like santa monica length. all the posted suggestions are great!!! heck maybe even wifi. haha.
