Been watching people make lures on YouTube, even molds out of plaster, I think..? The guy was calling it something else. White cement, what ever that means. Looks like that 5 min plaster to me.
Yea, I hate messing with photo sizes.
Plaster of Paris is the most common medium to use but it has to be made a certain way because it can get pretty beat up with frequent use.....I used to make molds like that but I have just not had any TIME....

Hmmmm I’ve used it in college art classes but I didn’t know that I could make molds out of it. It’s got me thinking. There are a couple of discontinued metal jigs from the 90s I want to copy.

You know of any ways to make a mold to copy soft plastics? I’ve seen the fiberglass bondo way but I don’t want to deal with the strong fumes.

Sooooo......Let's answer a few questions........

1) Why do I not just use BOTH eyelets and make In-Line Sinkers.......
a) I would.....But eyelets cost money and I would only use 2 of them if I intended to put a treble hook on the bottom eyelet and I AM NOT A FAN OF TREBLE HOOKS

2) Why do you not put eyes on the jigs......
a) I do on some......the simple fact is that they are not sticking too well on the lures that are not hammered out....AND I DON'T HAVE ANY CRAZY GLUE.

3) Why don't you dress the hooks on the lures
a) I have tried and they look like BLEEP.......I need a little more practice

4) Will those assist hooks even HOLD.....(LOL)...
a) These are micro-Jigs intended for near shore perch, and rockfish......NOT MOBY DICK.......They will hold ...... I am experimenting with 30# Power Pro, 65# Gorilla Braid, 80# Power Pro Flat Braid, and 22gauge Brass Wire.........Tying assist hooks this short is a MASSIVE PIA

5) DO YOU EVEN FISH BRO???.......LOL
a) Most likely since before you were born Monkey Boy

By any chance, have you tried dressing hooks with braided nylon cord or the inner strands of paracord? I’m trying to dress a few hooks with it and some holo ribbon I found at a sale and so far it looks ok after you unravel some of the braiding. I just bind it with thread, and in a pinch, thin mono finished with nail polish will probably work. I’ll post pictures sometime later.

Nope......I have tinsel thread that I cut into lengths an wrap on the hook.....they are just butt ugly at the moment

Actually those assist hooks work pretty well, whatever the application. It’s harder for a fish to throw the hook.

I coated this ones mono wrap with red nail polish I got at a yard sale. Got the idea from some clickbait paracord fishing lure survival hacks, and just used some cheapo nylon braid. I would like to try some with some hi vis yellow, but all the stuff I have seems too stiff and thick. I’m just either using sewing thread or really, really old light mono.

If you don't already have a fly tying vise, I suggest you get one for dressing the hook. I started with a cheap $25 vise and it served me well. You can also put a tiny hoochie squid to cover the hook.

How about using this little plastic vise? I got this from a daiso a while back and it’s about the right size for dressing hooks and clamps down pretty hard. D502046E-3F1D-456A-9994-6056015B15E7.jpeg
