went out to the surf this morning and did some plugging. No one home. it was quiet. Drop by the pier and saw this. Wow.

Most of those are anchovies, right? I haven't seen them down here... Sardines, but not anchovies.

Anyone have experience with anchovy in SoCal?

Anchovies can show up at almost any pier and when they do fishing tends to improve.

One summer day at Seacliff Pier, I saw a huge school of Engraulis mordax under the pier just outside the breakers. The only setup I had on me was an UglyStik Tiger with Penn 300 but I did have a #10 sabiki somehow and so I used that monster setup to catch about 60 of them!
