I went and googled for news on all the piers I could think of from port hueneme up to pacifica... I didn't see any reports of others being closed or damaged, so lets hope that this is a case of 'no news is good news'...

Ditto and thanks.

Crazy, I was just at all these piers over the new years weekend. I was walking through the Capitola Venetian houses and they had around 5-6 sand bags in front of each door. I was thinking why even waste time placing them since they weren't enough to stop anything. The city or property management must have been low on supplies.

The mid-section of the Capitola Pier is missing but to date the front and end section (where the restaurant sits) seem to be OK.

I saw a picture of the inside of the restaurant... It looked like the support pylons underneath had been broken off and thrust up through the interior floor. Pic is about 1/4 down the page.

Is Zeldas the restaurant on the pier or is it along the shoreline?
Nevermind. Answered my own question. This piece of the wharf was carried all the way over to Zeldas and into the building.
