Bad News For All Beach Fishermen

I was very disappointed that fishing under social distancing guidelines was not included. I think that would be very reasonable. So, my view remains the same, if I can fish without being near other people, I will . But I understand the potential consequences as well.
Dang, SS, your new icon has heavy implications, but I am in no position to disagree...
Stay safe people, we are on the way down on the curve, but not out of the woods yet.

People who do not fish. Check out the members of the California Fish & Wildlife Commission. Or even your local DFW warden. Used to be, these guys fished. Not so much now.

I'd like to think that fishing is allowed, but in this day and age you don't want to assume anything. The rules are muddy and those who can ticket us are not well versed. It's a shaky situation.
Funny, last few times I dealt with a warden was in the SF area over ten years ago. I spoke to them and they admitted that they are more versed in hunting regulations instead of fishing ones (usually patrol areas focused on hunting inland, only doing fishing at the time because of department staffing needs). It might be time to carry around a reg booklet just in case there is a misunderstanding.

Yep, happened quite a bit around lobster openers down south. The department would send a few extra wardens out to the coast from inland areas. One evening, a rather fetching she-warden and I were making small talk , and she shared that she was from inland areas and spent a goodly portion of her time enforcing dove hunting rules. Considering it's a short season, I've always wondered if shooting tiny birds out of season is a big poaching problem out in the desert?

Beaches has been closed long time ago...
State beaches may have been closed a long time ago. Lots of county run beaches were open till he just closed them. The cities in socal closed the parking lots to discourage tourists from coming, but people were allowed on the beach.
