Great weather this morning. Ocean water around pier without a red tide. Fished a high tide. Some fisherman at end of pier caught a few Mackerel and Queenfish. Fishing was slow and sporadic. Many fisherman left after a few hours of fishing with empty buckets.
I saw two boils near midpier area. One fisherman threw a sabiki rig at the boil and landed a small Bonito. No fish luck for me throwing a metal jig. But, I did catch something with it....
Another fisherman fishing the surf zone landed a few Yellowfin croaker on shrimp.
I ended my fishing trip catching and releasing the following fish:
3 Thornback Rays.
1 Round Ray.
1 Bat Ray.
1 Sandbass.
1 Salema.
1 Octopus.
1 Ugg boot!!! (Trashed)
The Thornbacks and Round Ray caught on anchovy. The Bat Ray caught on squid. The Sandbass and Salema on shrimp via high/low rig.
The Octopus went after an anchovy. First landed Octopus for me!
The Ugg boot hit a metal jig on my light pole. Needed to net the darn thing because it was so heavy and I didn't want to lose my lure.
