Tough Fishing San Clemente Pier

Overcast, cold, and windy morning on pier. A few fishermen trying their luck.

I managed to catch a Thornback Ray, a short Sheephead and a small Black perch. Caught the Sheephead and Black perch on shrimp with a high low rig. The Thornback Ray went after a piece of the Deep Anchovy that I caught at Seal Beach on Tuesday. I was using a fish finder set up.

I "caught" a large Spider crab on another piece of the Deep Anchovy. Instead of trying to land it via hoop net. (I had packed it away to move to another pier location). I lost it while hand lining up to the rail.

Cut the session short after many casts and almost 1 1/2 hours without any bites and bait untouched. I moved around the pier to 5 different spots. I usually do not do this.

Good luck!

I'm afraid I didn't make it down till late in the afternoon and it was drizzling. Didn't go out. Considering how to adjust my plans.
