Family outing today so we took the long drive north and beat the heat in Santa Barbara. Arrived around 330 to see around 15 to 20 rods lined up trying to hook a thresher. We were trying for crab again and not really expecting much since it's late summer. Ended up with 8 or 9 good sized ones and threw back 4 or 5 smaller keepers . Few macs and breezing schools of dines during the day , but early evening on , the dines arrived thick . First time actually trying for a thresher - as sharking isn't my thing . No luck , but neither did any of the regulars . No luck on halibut either . Maybe lack of macks for bait was the reason for slow sharking ? Had a good time regardless.

It's a nice pier to fish. Now with the railing it is safer too. I like to talk to the tourist from around the world.

Usually lots of mackerel, and sometimes good crabs.

Thanks for the post.

Great to hear of good crabbing there. Thanks for your report (sorry for my late response too).
