Sunday Morning, beach south of Santa Cruz, 8:00am, calm water, overcast. While walking up to the beach, saw guy catch keeper striped bass on topwater. Get to the surf, see like 2 or 3 anchovies jumping out of the water. Cast black sp minnow into surf, reeling back, paused, let minnow float to surface, saw a large striper follow it, mouthed?it or bumped it, then turn back to the depths
. Tried again several times with different lures, no luck rest of day. Multiple sea lions as well . Drove back along the 1 looking at the ocean and thinking about rockfishing.
