Goals For this trip
1) Catch fish at Trinidad Pier Using My 7' 6" KastKing Blackhawk II Telescopic Baitcasting Rod and my 11.81' Sougayilang Telescopic Spinning Rod
2) Catch and Cook Sand Crabs (If I can FIND Them)
3) Catch Surfperch at my old haunts of Mad River Beach, Trinidad State Beach, Agate Beach, and Gold Bluffs Beach
4) Float Fish Live Bait for Rockfish and Ling at Trinidad Pier (If I can Catch the Live Bait)
5) Somehow get some actual UW Video using the UW Camera I got just before they shut down abalone....DAMMIT
6) Catch SOMETHING on Gulp Sandworms.
7) Drop-Shot Trinidad Pier
As I get older......Spots Like the North and South Jetties of Humboldt Bay, and Wedding Rock at Patrick's Point have just become a little too Hairy I am Sad to say. All goals depend on weather, tides, and my physical condition of course.

Amen! That's the problem I have going fishing now - just getting down the rocks to the water. Each year, I lose at least one spot because I don't have the confidence I used to climbing up and down those rocks.
I've spent many a night camping at the south jetty, but the last time I was there, it broke my heart. Just couldn't manage those broken rocks and the road getting there.

Sorry I have not posted a fishing report on this trip.......but except for a Buffalo Sculpin caught on a 2oz Casting Spoon almost as big as it was........It was skunk city the whole trip.........Mostly due to surf conditions of beach slope...........I was going to fish a second day at Trinidad Pier but there was a dive class there and I got talking to them and from what they told me the pier was pretty much a wasteland except for small fish and they were at a loss to explain why.........Local kayak and skiff fishermen were not having a lot of luck either.....sad
1) The telescopic rods BOTH were perfectly acceptable for fishing Trinidad Pier.......they have the usual telescopic rod issues.....like keeping the guides aligned..........But they did the job and are worth considering for a grab and go kit or for something to keep in your car or truck.
2) Could not find a bed of sandcrabs that were the right size for what I had in mind
3) Didn't Happen
4) Could not get any live bait.....even on a sabiki
5) Need to make a proper base for my UW Camera to get proper footage
6) Lots of bites......some decent........couldn't stick any.........I have not been fishing enough
7) Skunkarooni...........Back in the old days of the wooden pier and the fish cleaning stations.........IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED
My brined clams and mussels stay on the hook really well and got plenty of bites...........
