M Makairaa Well-Known Member Jun 21, 2021 #4 Jun 21, 2021 #4 I have seen it used a few times. Most people locally who do that process on their fish just use a piece of 200 lb mono leader. The wire might be easier to use though. Have not tried myself, but intend to this summer on some tuna.
