I frequent mountain streams chasing native trout. Back mountains of my Los Angeles home have a bunch of streams to hold these jewels. I trekked into a couple of them recently with my backpack on and walking legs warmed. It is hard to believe such pristine nature is just a day walk away from one of the largest metropolices of this world. I wanted to share photos from these recent trips here as some of you seemed to have liked them from the sierras this summer. These may not be as large as those in Sierras (mind you some of them can get big, just not this time) but they still hold the true genes of the mighty southern steelheads. I bet the moment we break those dams, some of them just swim away straight into the pacific like nothing ever happened in the past 200 years and return back in a few years as a full-size chrome!
