You get what you pay for.......NEVER had an issue with the Do-It Brand Molds.....But I saw a seller in England that had cheap STORM sinker molds in 2 types I was interested in.....A 5 and 6oz Beach Bomb Mold and a 6oz Gripper Lead Mold.....With Combined shipping they were only $48.......BUT upon unpacking....The Beach Bomb Sinker Mold Halves did not fit together properly and the Grip Lead Mold holes for the wires did not line up properly making it impossible to close the molds with the wires in place without more force than I would like........The seller issued me a full refund.......I tried to mod the Beach Bomb Mold so it fit together properly but I doubt I will be able to use it properly and I MIGHT be able to get the Gripper Lead Mold to work.....MAYBE.......So Buyer beware......I cannot recommend the STORM brand sinker molds

Sooooooo......These STORM brand molds are ready for me to give them a try.......I THINK the grip lead mold will work properly.......BUT.....I think the Beach Bomb Mold will be totally useless.....wish me luck.

UPDATE:

BOTH LEAD MOLDS WORK.......Well Sort of........AFTER MODIFICATIONS.....They are NOT as they came from the factory

The Grip Lead Mold is a PIA to get the Wires put through it......The Wires make the hole you run the grip wires through so it is a pretty important part of the process.......

The Beach Bomb Mold ALSO works......BUT......The holes that you put you eyelets into are TINY and WILL NOT FIT the provided brass eyes.......With a tiny FILE I made the holes big enough so they accepted small paper clips cut to use.....NOT IDEAL....But usable for now......

BOTH MOLDS need to be HOT.......BEFORE casting the sinkers......AND the molds get VERY HOT during a production run......TOO HOT to hold with standard WELDING GLOVES........The molds were affordable as listed....IF THEY WORKED IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONFIGURATION.......But they didn't and because of the set up time for each mold I would NOT recommend these molds for any sort of PRODUCTION.......Only PERSONAL USE....

Did you have to file them down to get them to work?
On the beach bomb mold I had to use a file and sandpaper to get the halves to meet up better....it was a huge PIA.....and I have to make the holes larger for the eyelet wires with a file.

The Grip Lead Mold just needed to have the holes for the wires lined up a little better......That was an aluminum plug for all holes followed by re-drilling the wire holes so they lined up properly......That took a friendly machinist that likes to fish

Finished Product......Need to get MUCH better at bending the wire for the Grip Leads and I need Better Eyelets for the Beach Bombs so I can power toss them without fear of the eyelet coming loose......Might have to file the eyelet holes more so they can take 20 gauge Stainless Steel wire.

Sooooooo.........The Beach Bomb Lead Mold Required a little more filing.......I am trying to get it so it fits 20 gauge Stainless Steel Wire so I can make better eyelets so I can be more confident really PowerCasting the suckers without worrying about the eyelets pulling free from the sinkers........Almost there......Might try producing some Long Tailed Beach Bombs once the mod is complete to my satisfaction...........

As it stands now......I have modified the Gripper Lead Mold to accept 20 Gauge Stainless Steel Wire for the Eyelets.......I get the wire dirt cheap from my salvage yard and I really was not too impressed with the brass eyelets that came with the sinker molds......I also slightly modified the mold so I can use Stainless Steel, Copper, or Brass Wire for the Grip Wires depending on what I have on hand...

I modified the Beach Bomb Mold to take 20 gauge Stainless Steel Wire for Eyelets as well......

Both Molds will also work With Small or Standard Paper Clips as Eyelets.......Its all about being able to use what is at hand.....

Come spring I want to be able to bomb these weights out there in pursuit of the mighty MUD MARLIN at my favorite spot.......

THE BEAUTY OF LEAD..........Decided that for SAFETY........I am going to melt down all the Beach Bomb Sinkers I made earlier so I can replace the eyelets with stronger ones......Not interested in sending 5 and 6oz MISSILES down range if the original eyelets FAIL

I know what you mean. Even without it snapping, those long distance casts can hit things way far in front of you. I've had to stop a few casts myself.

OK....This mornings re-pour session SUCKED.......Made 7 each of the 5 and 6oz Beach Bomb Sinkers.....and after casting them with MUCH longer Stainless Steel Eyelets.......I WAS ABLE TO PULL ALL BUT 3 OF THE EYELETS OUT OF THE NEW SINKERS WITH A PAIR OF PLIERS......DAMMIT!!!!!!!

Now I have to redo the redo and figure out how to get these eyelets to HOLD on Sinkers that I plan on putting some real backbone into....

OK......Another Lead Casting Session with the Beach Bomb Mold and the 3rd Generation Stainless Steel Eyelets.........I made the Eyelets Longer....So they go deeper into the lead.....and put hooks in the ends that are inside the sinker if that makes sense........THESE EYELETS ARE GOING TO HOLD......Now I just need to do some Product Testing.....

BAD NEWS is that I am wondering if all the Grip Leads I have made are going to be safe to use........I have to stress test the Eyelets on them now.....sigh

A new one off the bench..........A Prototype based of an English design..........A "Long Tailed" Beach Bomb Lead.......The idea is.......The "Tail" adds stability in flight for long distance casts.........Just a longer "eyelet" in my Storm Beach Bomb Lead Mold.......6oz
