Any anchovies last few days ? I heard there was a red tide that drove them away last week. Are they back yet ?

The red tide comes and goes on a daily basis so you may have to call around for up to date info.

Hit the wharf today for a bit. The anchovies are still in but are more pinhead sized. The larger ones are around but it takes a bit of work to jig them up. White croakers and small walleye/silver surfperch are also around if you're looking for live bait.

Slow action today for game fish, though I did hear that the linesides were biting just a day earlier. Saw one Pacific mackerel pulled up, so I imagine there's a chance for mack runs around graylight. September has always been the best for mackerel for me.

There was an amazing red tide this Sunday, but even with that I got few anchovies.

Only problem is: Anchovies might be toxic during red tides.

Generally red tides do not make fish such as anchovies toxic; other, closely related organisms do that. Usually the Department of Fish and Wildlife issues advisories when they see that fish are being impacted and dangerous to eat. And of course there are the yearly mussel warnings.

Thanks Ken!
