San Clemente Pier - August 17th

Variety of fish being caught at pier today. Not wide open but steady. I saw fisherman catch a legal size Sheephead, Salema, Queenfish, Jacksmelt, Topsmelt at end of pier.

Midpier and shoreline fisherman catching Queenfish, Jacksmelt, Topsmelt, Barred surf perch and Spotfin croaker.

I caught a short Calico and Sandbass, a Rockfish (trying to ID it), a Batray and a Spotfin croaker. Bass caught on anchovy. Spotfin and Batray on mussel.

Nice day on the pier. Most likely a grass rockfish. I have caught a few there before.

Nice fishing! The rock fish is cool! Never caught one there before or at any pier other than the Mole or Goleta.
