Nightcrawlers in the salt

Got a few perch to eat nightcrawlers from dug the backyard.
Didn't think they'd work but they stayed alive on the hook for some time and got bit.
Guess I'll never have to drop fifteen bucks on a dozen pile worms again.

Also the central SF bay still seems to be in winter mode.
Water is murky and cold and the smelt are still absent from the downtown piers, but a few perch are still around.

Good to hear! I've mentioned before that nightcrawlers will work but they have a tendency to bleach out fairly quickly and can need to be replaced. However, when the perch bite is on they certainly work.

Nightcrawlers may catch a fish but the best bait from your yard is Snails. Used whole or cut in half. They are great for Perch and Stripers and Catfish further up the Delta.
