Was watching the National Memorial Day Concert from Washington DC last night and remembering all the military cemeteries Pat and I have visited, memorial graveyards from California to Virginia to Pennsylvania and overseas in Belgium. Most of the sites have simple crosses marking the graves. My dad and his Jones brothers served in WW II, my Nannenga uncles served in the Korean War, and my stepfather served in Vietnam. All luckily survived but they, and all who gave their lives and are memorialized today, deserve our thanks. I just wonder how many in our land still celebrate this day for what it is rather than just another holiday.
