Looking for Pier Recommendations

I live about two hours inland from the Santa Monica area so I do not get to fish the piers as much as I would like. I will be able to fish for about five and a half hours (from 5:30 to 11:00 pm) on Saturday September 29 in the Vicinity of LAX. Does anyone have a recommendation of which pier would be good to fish?

I saw that in the Pier Fishing book, Ken Jones gave the Manhattan Beach pier the most points per hour in his ranking system, but it appears that the end of that pier is currently closed. Does anyone have a preference for the Hermosa Beach Pier, Venice Pier, or Redondo Beach Pier?

Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

Is the end closed? I wonder why.

They are remodeling the aquarium at the end and have a fence up blocking access where the pier widens.

Yes, I checked the Internet and found the story. Getting harder and harder to keep up with all the various closures.

I ended up going to Hermosa Beach Pier. The mackerel were biting well, but they were the only fish I saw caught.
