Giant (Black) Sea Bass in Eureka

Apparently a 15-pound giant (black) sea bass was caught last week in Humboldt Bay by Eureka. Only second recorded in the bay since 1966.

No, the information came from Ed Roberts and he didn’t have a picture. Ed is in charge of the DF&W fish counters for NorCal

-Ken, I guess that is rare because it is too cold for them that far up North?

-I remember only seeing one BSB of 60# in the stack of salmon coming in in the mid 70’s at Moby Dick Baitshop (the location of the the present day Berkeley Marina Sportfishing Center).

-I know in your fish history, they were much more common at Santa Cruz/Capitola Wharves and south.
