EL NIÑO RETURNS

Oh boy here we go, y'all ready for another year of shellfish closures and lost exotics?

On a (probably boring) note, the oceanographic conditions currently off our coast are at odds with a full blown El Niño, with a significant negative sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly and strong upwelling, probably remnant from last year's strong La Niña. It will be interesting to see how these two contrasting oceanographic systems interact.
