Hello everyone,
I realize this is my first post as a member on here. I grew up fishing Malibu pier with my father who taught me everything about pier fishing, with the help of Ken's book. Whenever I'm home at my parent's I still like to dive into the original orange cover book that's now falling apart in my father's book case. I spent most of my time on the internet in middle/high school browsing the message boards and reading reports from Mahigeer, Huntress, and Snookie. Anyways - fast forward a few years, engaged, and following my time in the Marine Corps - I've rediscovered my love for pier fishing. I've been fishing the Dana Point Harbor quite often and am eager to start making trips up and down the coast. I'll be checking out San Clemente pier tomorrow for the first time in about 3 years.
Had some good fishing over the weekend, I've attached photos of the few croaker I managed to pull out of the cesspool that is Dana Point harbor on Saturday and Sunday. Also had multiple smelt (one decent sized), baby rays, kelp bass, and salema. All were caught on frozen squid/raw shrimp, standard hi - lo rig. Every fish was safely released to fight another day and hopefully give one of the youngins on the the pier a reason to love the hobby.
I look forward to posting more and conversing with you all.
Respectfully.
