Broken tip on a graphite rod

Was fishing a bit earlier this week and tripped with one of my baitcasting rods. Scraped up my knee pretty bad and broke off the tip of the rod, just snapped at where the tip top ended. The wrapping for the tip guide is still there, but now the rod is about half an inch shorter. What do I have to do before I put on a new tip? Because it is graphite, is if going to fracture more or what? Should I sand the broken end as well?

If it’s a clean break, you don’t have to do prep work. If it has a diagonal brake you have to make the end flat.

You said it broke at the thread end so I suspect a clean break.
