Good fishing on the Belmont pier today ,plentiful mackerel all sizes taken on small pieces of anchovy and shrimp under a float,carbine inshore some nice ones caught today,sharks and rays at the end ,lots of bait fish in the water ,i tried a live smelt for Halibut but no takers ,saw one guy catch a needle fish pretty rare for that pier. corbina. side note read in the western outdoor news 7and a half pound yellow fin croaker was caught at the san clemente pier 21inches long. I fished from730 to 930.

Im now going to Belmont Saturday morning to get a Needlefish. When Edison used to dump warm water, the Seal Beach jetty was the place and a fish every cast for those little fighters. Bring Needlenose pliers. They cause damage.

Did you see the picture? I’m sure that was a Spotfin in full spawning colors. We used to catch them like that in Mission Bay. That size didn’t even get a second look.

Thanks all,I just looked at the picture of the so called yellowfin to me it is a spot fin ,western outdoors called it a yellow fin ,so I'm thinking they got it wrong?
