Great tips. One other thing to look into with the alaska airlines credit card is their friends fly free program. If you have someone going with you, you can split the ticket price in half. Also glance at first class. The last time I went the price difference was about $80 each way. You get a second free bag, a meal, and expedited check in. Basically pays for itself with the luggage and food.
