How can we help. Any suggestions?URGE CONGRESS TO SUPPORT THE YOUTH COASTAL FISHING PROGRAM ACT!
Approximately 86% of current fishing participants started fishing before the age of 12. This highlights the importance of being exposed to fishing at a young age. Fishing offers youth a way to unplug from a technologically driven world, helping them improve their mental and physical health and create lasting memories in nature.
Recognizing how important this is, Representatives Maria Salazar (R-Fla.) and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.) and Senators Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) introduced the Youth Coastal Fishing Program Act of 2023 into the U.S. House and Senate respectively.
This bill would create a new program to fund community-based programs that take youth fishing on the ocean and the Great Lakes.
By creating a grant program for underserved coastal youth, this bill ensures that young people have welcoming and comfortable spaces to access their local waters, encouraging fishing participation as they grow into adulthood.
Please tell Congress to support the Youth Coastal Fishing Program Act.
