I tried to catch squid at San Clemente (at the end) tonight with the Daiso jig and failed. Did you catch the squid at the end of piers? Interestingly, I caught 2 octopus at the middle of the pier on a sabiki tonight instead.
Hi, yes at the end of the pier, also make sure you have light shining onto the water, and put the Daiso jig at the bottom of the sabiki, and make sure the hooks are sharp. What I do is let it sink to about 10 feet, then slowly bring it up to about 4 feet, if no taker than repeat that action, watch your line, if on the drop you see line go slack then reel in, you may have something on there, and if on the reel up you feel something heavy keep reeling in, there might be a squid. With squid bite you will not feel any shaking, it just feels heavy like a snag.
