Ya i used to just start driving & go all over CA fishing & not come home for weeks. Then 2 days later I would leave again. Then I ran out of $ & had to get a job.....sigh. It was fun while it lasted. No regrets!

Oh wow! Well 1st yrs ago some youngster(early 20s) was murdered by a gang member. Theres RIP graffitti at the beggining of the wall. And i have heard a few stories of ppl getting jacked for their gear there. One guy wouldnt give up his gear so they got huge chunks of concrete & smashed his car...
But the bay area lakes & piers are not all that bad. Oyster point, pacifica pier, sierra point & sandy wool lake in milpitas after a trout stock can get a tad thugish though. Maybe sometimes quarry lakes in fremont
Oh I was just there last week. Santa Cruz Wharf. I was catching perch right across from Marianis candy store at abt 10pm- 12am. You gotta stop in & see Chris. He always has all the daily details!
So I spent the weekend fishing San Leandro Marina.Saturday & most of Sunday we fished by the pole holders along shore. Ppl were catching sharks...smooth hounds & leopards...good sized ones too. High tide & low tide,didnt matter. The folks fishing there & the activities remind me of Monterey...
Ok so I seriously thought about it & decided to skip it. 1st its Friday, no way we find parking. 2nd I was there a few yrs ago the day crabbing opened & it was insane!!!! Way too many fishermen! And last Salmon just aint worth it! It would have been interesting to see but the parking situation...
