Foggy and overcast morning on the pier. But, fish bite was on. Active Jacksmelt all morning with a sprinking of Queenfish and White Croaker. Fishermen targeting these fish were getting a steady bite.

Baitfish in the water. Not sure what they were. My tally for the session was:

11 Thornback Rays
2 Jacksmelt
2 Pacific Chub Mackerel
1 Queenfish
1 White Croaker
1 Sandbass (short)
1 Spider crab

The Mackerel were the first catch of the season for me at this pier. Maybe they are moving in.

Good luck everyone.

I was going to head there early this morning but the fog was very thick where I live in Lakewood and skipped it.

Darren, that's not too far from where I lived in Whittier. If you haven't been to Sav-On Tackle in Santa Fe Springs, give it a shot. It's worth a visit.

Up here in Idaho Falls, I happened to run into a man who fished in the San Diego area in his past. I asked him about H&M & he said he frequented the landing. He also told me that Sav-on tackle was his favorite shop. I find it amazing that I came all the way up here to find someone who knew my old stomping grounds. I think it tells you how unique your old neighborhood is.
I've adapted to living up here, but I don't think my fishing experiences have completely adapted. It's why I still come here to PFIC. Your reports remind me of a time when I enjoyed fishing on a pier. Back then, I really appreciated the camaraderie.
Now, I'm old and fishing is not what it used to be. The guys up here frequent fly fishing from drift boats. It's not exactly relaxing to me.
I still look forward to hearing the pier reports. Keep posting and I will keep reading.
