DIY Lead Melting Set-UP.....CHEAP...........Any Interest

All you need to get started
1) Butane Stove and fuel..........This is a pretty good deal off of Amazon

2) Cast Iron Sauce Pan......THRIFT STORE........Mine has a WOOD HANDLE and I recommend something like that because once I am done making weights I pour the left over lead into a mini muffin pan to make ingots for future use.
3) Mini Muffin Pan........Like $6 at Walmart.....or a thrift store........some people just use the bottom of aluminum cans to make ingots
5) A Good Ladle.........I made mine by adding a wooden handle to a heavy gauge stainless steel 1 cup measuring cup
6) LEAD........I get mine from a scrap yard........If you are lucky you can get it for $1/pound....Use SOFT LEAD and not lead allow.......You should be able to scratch soft lead with a fingernail.....no problem
7) Sheets of thin cardboard or heavy card stock paper 90 pound or better and some masking tape
8) WIRE..........I get mine at a salvage yard......steel, brass, copper....it all works.......you want like 20 gauge or better.......and some wire cutters
9) A place to set up OUTSIDE and away from any possible moisture that might drip into the lead..........
10) Some tongs to hold the paper molds....and some welding gloves
You can get swivels if you want to get fancy....
I am going to walk you through the process of making pencil weights as they are the cheapest and easiest to make........All the weights I will walk through in the basic tutorial do not require expensive molds and can be made on the fly on a camping trip if you have your gear with you....
In a pinch.......Aluminum Foil or cut up aluminum cans can also work to make pencil sinker molds.....as can toilet paper or paper towel rolls....
For Quick and dirty Coin Sinkers........Use the bottom of a Pop or Beer Can and some cheap paper clips from WalMart........If You want to get fancy.....notch the raised rim on the bottom of the can so it fits the paper clip snugly.........For a smaller coin......Use a smaller diameter can
