    Avoid Huntington Beach pier.......

    Skip it entirely. Events at HB pier etc start around 7am. Many other places to fish for a week. It's a nightmare that whole week.

    Im now going to Belmont Saturday morning to get a Needlefish. When Edison used to dump warm water, the Seal Beach jetty was the place and a fish every cast for those little fighters. Bring Needlenose pliers. They cause damage.

    We were at Belmont pier Saturday morning from 830am - 1030am. 4 mackerel and 6-7 croaker. 6lb test and strip of fresh squid. Noone was bringing anything in, but sure wanted my magic bait. Most were using 30lb test and coffee grinder set ups ...with a bell on the rod for that big tuna in LBC...

    Needlefish At 1st Street Jetty Seal Beach

    Years back when Edison would dump the warm water through the channel, we would catch Needlefish one after another with pieces of anchovy. You're right, they are difficult to hook, but when they get bigger, you better have some long needlenose pliers or you will be bloody.

    I totally agree. Those two sharks seemed like they were for attention, and they were getting it. That is why the DFG rep asked them to put the fish away. You are correct, the sinks, bathrooms etc are all gone. Empty platform.
