Ventura Pier 4/27

On Saturday, there was an evening high tide, with good water flow, so I went to Ventura Pier to try the surf area, hoping for some perch. While I waited for a friend to get set up at mid pier, and drop the net out further, I tried a sabiki, without success. I tried mussels on dropper loops and a Carolina rigged camo sandworm just behind the 1 ft surf, again without success. I switched to squid strips and worked my way up to the well, with only one bite. The light down into the well was not on.

Some people caught some queenfish, including my friend. And one person caught a horn shark on whole squid. The horn shark seemed a bit out of its usual habitat to me. Overall it was a very slow evening.
