Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes in Steinbeck's Sweet Thursday:

This is what happens when all of the pressures of natural selection is removed from a species. Selection leads to success of the most
rapacious amongst the members and eventually it begins to cannibalize itself. Anyone else see a very disquieting similarity to universe 25?
