Surf-perch question

Was wondering if anyone had opinions about Carolina rig, Carolina rig but with the weight attached at the top of the leader (not sliding), or dropshot for surf-perch... was wondering if, when using grubs vs gulp sandworms whether the different rigs would make a difference... Going to be testing this myself over the next several weeks but was wondering if anyone else had experience with these 3 rigs already (making experiments unnecessary).

Big Hammer has an article with their small grubs. http://www.swimbait.com/techniques/perch.htm

Personally, I have not gotten any luck using the Big Hammer small grubs. Perhaps fish are not around?

The gulp sandworms do work but I have had days when they just don't. Not sure if it's due to an old batch (not sure their shelf life) or just no fish around.

I feel that the Carolina rig is more effective, but I use the drop shot because it gives me more control over my line and reduces the amount of snags and tangles that I get.
