Spud Point Marina Pier 7/3

I have summer courses at the Bodega Marine Lab; despite my busy schedule, I still have some time to squeeze in some fishing.

I went out onto the mudflats at 8 am on the outgoing tide to grab some ghost shrimp or worms. A number of clammers were out and were not backfilling their holes(!!), so I just sifted through their piles to grab the ghost shrimp and smaller clams they left out for the gulls.

I fished the pier from 10 am to 1 pm on the incoming tide for nothing. There were a lot of small anchovies in the water, but other than that, the birds, and a couple crabs in the shallows were the only life I saw out there. I fished a single dropper loop with live ghost shrimp.

I used to go up there and didn't realize there were any ghost shrimp right at that spot. Mostly, I fished that tiny pier at the beginning of the harbor. A lot of shiner perch, perch, and sometimes leopard shark. Off the wall is where I hear the real action happens (but you have to be careful on the wall).
