Sonoma/Napa/Marin sloughs and bays

#1
In 2020, I relocated to Sonoma County, which has been awesome. I'm still trying to get the lay of the land. I've been hunting the surf for perch (seems like a tough bite between Pt. Reyes and Pt. Arena) and scouring Hwy. 1 for the perfect poke-poling spot.

But right now, all the tidal sloughs and bays are whispering to me when I look at the map. They seem so accessible, so far from traffic, and likely uncrowded... Petaluma River, Black Point, Sonoma Creek, Montezuma Slough. Striper, sturgeon, maybe the odd catfish. Anybody have any tips about timing, spots, bait, rigs?

A few weeks back I dunked some anchovies in Montezuma Slough near the end of Grizzly Island Rd and caught one shaker in a few hours. I had to hold the rod to detect the bite due to the howling wind blowing my line around, but once I did I realized I was getting tons of nibbles.
