I don't really like to post my fish pics but here are a few favorites.

KJ_1963.4.8_Costa Mesa_John_Barracuda.1b.jpg

Some barracuda from my first trip on an all day boat, the Seahorse, on April 8, 1963. We left at 2 a.m., fished Catalina Island from 5:15-12:30, and arrived back at 3 p.m. I caught 15 kelp bass (all legal by today's standards) and five barracuda—(9 lb-2 oz, 7 lb-14 oz, the rest 6-7 lbs).

KJ_1967_San Diego_Kelp.Bass.1.jpg

A 9 lb 2 oz kelp bass caught on a private boat in the La Jolla kelp beds in the spring of 1965. I was president of the El Capitan High School Fishing Club and was fishing with our advisor Mr. Noble.

KJ_1966.5.30_San Diego_Seabiscuit_Yellowtail.1.JPG

One of my early yellowtails, this one caught on the half-day boat Seabiscuit out of Mission Bay Sportfishing on May 30, 1966. We left at 6 a.m., fished the La Jolla kelp beds from 7:00-11:10, and arrived back at 11:45 a.m. The day saw me catch 22 kelp bass, 1 bonito and one yellowtail.

Mike_1976_6_SD_yellowtail_2.2.jpg

My son Michael holding up the 21-pound yellowtail that I caught on the Malihini out of H & M Sportfishing on June 23, 1976. We left at 2 a.m., fished the Coronado Islands from 6 a.m. till 1 p.m., and arrived back at 3 p.m. I caught 12 barracuda averaging about 5 pounds each, 1 bonito and the yellowtail that won the $56 jackpot.

KJ_1978.5.14_San Simeon_Lingcod.2a.jpg

An eight pound lingcod that surprisingly won the jackpot on the Pathfinder out of Virg's Sportfishing at San Simeon on May 14, 1978. The boat left the pier at 7 a.m., fished from 8:15-11:00, and arrived back at 11:45. The day saw a catch of 8 yellowtail rockfish, 1 gopher rockfish, 1 rosy rockfish, and i lingcod.

KJ_1978.6_Lake Tahoe_Lake_Trout.2.jpg

A nice sized lake trout that I caught at Lake Tahoe in June of 1978 while at a business conference. We fished very early hours and I was able to head back, clean up, and be ready at the conference by 8 a.m.
KJ_1979.7.11_Fort Bragg_King Salmon.1b.jpg
A 27 pound king salmon I caught from the Lady Irma in Fort Bragg on July 11, 1979. We left at 6:40, fished from 6:50-11:50, and arrived back at 12: 15. I caught two king salmon that day (27 and 14 pounds) and two silver salmon (13 and 4 pounds).

KJ_1992.6.30_Biloxi Miss_Gafftopsail Catfish.1.jpg

A 6-pound gafftopsail catfish caught from the Harrison Street Pier in Biloxi, Mississippi on June 30, 1992. I fished from 10:45-1:15 p.m. and caught 8 sea catfish (called hardheads), 1 gafftopsail catfish, 1 sand weakfish, 1 Atlantic croaker, 1 southern whiting and 1 blacktip shark. I was fishing out at the end of the pier during a very heavy rain storm with heavy thunder and lightning. My wife was sitting back at our motel room watching the pier and hoping the lightning didn't hit the covered awing at the end of the pier.

KJ_2005_Catfish_Lodi.jpg

A catfish I caught from our dock at our home in Lodi in 2005.

KJ_2010.5_Baja California_Rancho Buena Vista_Dorado.jpg

A good-sized dorado (aka mahi mahi and dolphinfish), 32-pounds I think, taken on a Rancho Buena boat in Baja during May of 2010.
