Shore fishing from Catalina

Due to the recent closure of the Cabrillo Mole, fishing at Avalon has become somewhat limited. For many anglers, such as myself, purchasing/renting a kayak is out of budget or is simply inconvenient due to time restrictions, and are thus limited to shore fishing. To my knowledge, the Descanso and Hamilton cove area are restricted to residents. That leaves the GPP, the inside of the Casino jetty, and Pebbly beach open to fishing, the latter requiring a license. Having spent most of my time at the locations listed above, I am finding a crucial environment to be missing now that the Mole is closed: access to deep and open water. There is a fairly substantial dropoff off Pebbly Beach that is just out of casting distance without a 10ft+ surf rod and 4+ oz of weight, while the GPP and jetties present shallow-water harbor fishing. Does anybody have any general spots where there is easy access to conditions similar to those at the mole (and within reasonable hiking distance)?

I have heard "Opaleye hunters" go pass Pebbly Beach to the rock quarry to catch Opaleye.
Best to carry a fishing license there. They probably take taxi to get there.

Two Harbor is another place to fish in Catalina. The small pier is no-fishing, but lots of shore fishing.

Didn’t you go there?

I have been to Two harbors a couple times. Fishing from the rocks is either really good or absolutely terrible. I will have to give the quarry a try. I usually keep my license on me at all times so that shouldn't be a problem.
