Took a chance and headed out to the pier during this break in the storm systems passing through So Cal. Glad I did! About six fishermen also taking advantage of the decent weather.

A fisherman near me caught and released a short Calico and short White Seabass. Both caught with frozen anchovy.

I was busy catching Thornbacks. But, I always say, " a Thornback bite is better than no bite!" I ended up catching and releasing 15 Thornbacks. Had two back to back double hook ups with the Thornys!

Highlight for me was catching a Lizardfish and using him for live bait. Literally 10 minutes later, a 16 1/2 Sandbass inhaled the bait! Lizardfish gone! Sandy released. 🙂

My tally for the session was:
15 Thornbacks.
1 Roundray.
1 Lizardfish.
1 Sandbass.
1 Topsmelt
1 Halibut (short)

At 10:00 a.m. the rain came down in buckets and emptied the pier. I got into my truck soaking wet. But, with a big smile.

Good luck everyone.
