Decided to focus on Batrays this first fishing trip for October. It's been about two months since I hooked and landed a Batray.

Early morning bite yielded 5 Roundrays, 4 Thornbacks, and 1 Batray. Wingspan about 23 inches Fishing went dead for me after 7:30 a.m.
I used a variety of baits: shrimp, mackerel, anchovy and squid. The rays hit on all of the baits. All released.

Another fisherman nearby caught about a dozen Lizardfish with a sabiki rig. He gave me some to use as bait. No hits!

Overall fishing was slow. Lots of floating kelp. Almost every cast ended with wrapped kelp around the lines. Fished a rising tide. The weather was sunny. Great morning to hang out on the pier.

Good luck everyone!
