Made a short visit to the pier the other day checking out rumors that it was closed. It is totally open! Only saw a couple of anglers who didn't have any fish but I had a nice conversation with a guy at the end who had actually read my article on the San Simeon Pier that morning on PFIC. However he, like so many today, was just using a Sabiki and with little success (guess the article didn't work). Still a nice day and nice to see the pier open. Only problems: (1) They've removed the fish cleaning stations (as on so many piers) and (2) all of the restroom were closed. Unfortunately the State Parks Dept. isn't doing a very good job when it comes to piers.
