Short report to compliment my Crustacean to Crustacean report regarding San Clemente pier. Kind of unusual for me to fish the pier on " back to back " days. But, my schedule allowed for these opportunities. Wanted to share how each day is different even if it's the same location.
On this day I was fortunate to catch the following:
1 legal size female lobster full of eggs. (released)
2 Thornback Rays (released)
2 Bonito (Kept)
3 Pacific Chub Mackerel (kept)
2 Yellowfin croaker (released a small one)
1 Queenfish (kept)
It was a fun session. Bonito was a surprise. I saw some big flashes around my high/low rig as I reeled it in. Quickly switched to a metal jig and began tossing it out. Immediately got four hits. Landed two Bonito and a large Pacific Chub Mackerel. Then the bite stopped.
Less than a handful of fishermen on the pier. Unfortunately, one lone fisherman, at the end of the pier, was fishing with seven active lines in the water. I reported this violation to DFW.
One angler fishing the surf zone said he caught a Spotfin croaker with mussel.
Good luck everyone!
