Super Bowl Sunday had the family over to watch the game. Grilled a Yellowfin and Spotfin Croaker for the grandsons. They skipped the good stuff, burritos, hot wings, taquitos, carne asada, chips, cookies, brownies, candy, etc and ate the two fish to the bones! Who would have guessed!
After the game, when they were leaving, my eldest grandson who is ten. Asked me to catch him 10 fish. I guess one for each year?
So this morning I thought I'd give San Clemente pier a try. The weather was cloudy, cold and windy. There were two shark fishermen at the pier end. No other fishermen around.
I parked myself mid pier and set up. I managed to catch 10 Queenfish, 2 Walleye Perch, 2 Shiner Perch and a handful of Topsmelt for bait.
I left about 10 a.m.after the wind grew stronger. I kept all the fish, except the smelt, and plan to deep fry them the next time the grandchildren visit.
Mission accomplished! Good luck everyone.
