Walked the pier with a visiting friend before a delicious sand dab meal at Tony's.

Lots of anglers casting and some catching mackerel.

Lots of pesky pelicans on the pier. A huge number of them on the jetty. Old fishing pier is completely gone.

Poly's on the Pier restaurant that had moved to the big pier is gone too. An old round structure that was there is now skate park. The Arcade is gone too.
Parking rate is now $2.00/hr.

A lot of good memories there. Hudson Ruggles had a grab bag barrel. Dad never took us to Tony's- to pricey for his taste. I remember a bowl of clam chowder was a huge treat while my folks shopped for fish.

There was a Hickory Farms across from Tony's. I couldn't believe it when I found out they gave away free samples. 🙂 1000004176.jpg

A side note.. The son of the owner of the Hickory Farms, was my work friend at the San Diego Datsun when we worked as auto mechanics.
One Labor Day my wife and I were invited to go on his yacht.

We liked their beef sticks.
