Fished Pier J this morning caught some Jacksmelt and White Croaker. Used anchovy, shrimp and squid. I've only fished this spot 4 times in the last six months. Haven't tried this location in the summer months. Anyone fish this place regularly? Can you addvise what can you catch here. So far I've only caught the above mentioned species on my visits.

I have read the pier background info posted by Ken. I have an idea of what possibly could be caught. Like to hear other individual experiences.

Thank you!

We fished on of the J piers in the morning a few Sundays ago. Liked the structure around the pier, but it was a slow fishing day. We caught a baby cabezon and kelp fish casting right into the rocks. Others fishing hooked up on 2 better sized fish that ran them into the rocks so we didn't get to see what the fish were.

Also interested to hear from regulars to these piers. Thanks for your report!

What baits were you using and rig set up? Thanks for your responses 👍.

Fish were caught on single hook dropper loop with a size 8 mosquito hook baited with piece of head on market shrimp or piece of lug worm. Bigger fish hooked by other anglers were caught on squid baited on a larger hook sabiki
